New banking service Dion.Money plans August launch in the UK
The UK has another fledgling challenger bank in Dion.Money, which promises to “turn banking on its head” with its personal account.
Dion.Money offers an IBAN account and virtual and physical cards, and promises more than 250 individual ways to “top up” a user’s account.
Other promised features include free global transfers, currency exchange, health insurance, and investment accounts.
Dion.Money is launching in August as a paid-for model, with an initial charge of €9.99 a month. The firm is also running a crowdfunding round on Indiegogo, with a goal of €200,000.
The challenger is operated by i4n, a solutions provider that claims to have developed “clever AI technology” to “dynamically and instantly make financial decisions”.
It was founded by Ian Clark, Jane Turner, and Francesk Gjecaj. Clark has worked in technology-related executive roles at an unnamed US fintech with a “revolutionary” AI credit scoring system.
Turner is technical director, and has worked at i4n since January 2021, having joined from aerial photography firm Phantom Drone Media.
Dion.Money offers a subscription-based newsletter as its only means of sign-up at the time of writing. Those who join have a chance to win a year’s worth of the new account for free upon launch.
