British Business Bank selects Solidatus for data management
British Business Bank, the UK government’s economic development bank, has selected metadata management technology firm Solidatus as it looks to boost its data governance and data lineage capabilities.
The firm, which manages access to finance programmes for smaller businesses for the UK government, will use Solidatus’ data management tech to develop a more comprehensive understanding of its data to address problems, make more informed decisions and minimise risk.
Solidatus says its solutions will allow British Business Bank to “visualise and manage all its data from end-to-end”.
It adds that the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a number of data management challenges for public sector organisations, especially in risk management for COVID-19-related loans.
British Business Bank’s programmes include the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CIBLS) and the Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS), introduced as temporary emergency measures during the pandemic.
The bank also set up a new £375 million scheme to drive investment in innovative tech start-ups last month to “super charge” the post-pandemic economy.
Stephen Whiteley, data director – data management office at British Business Bank, says working with Solidatus “provides us with the flexibility and features we require to perform our data governance functions”.
