CIBC recruits Danske Bank’s Søren Rode Jain Andreasen for digital leadership role
Søren Rode Jain Andreasen is leaving Danske Bank after 15 years to become Enterprise Digital and Innovation Officer at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
In his most recent position at the Danish Bank, he served as chief digital officer.
At CIBC, Andreasen says he will focus on the strategic direction of the Canadian bank’s enterprise digital client experience. He will manage digital budgets, digital channels, and investments in artificial intelligence and automation.
He will also manage partnerships “to drive digital sales and engagement. “Last, but not least”, he says he will focus on “streamlining and optimisation of processes across the bank”.
He will relocate to Toronto in January.
The hire of Andreasen to lead the bank’s digital strategy comes after CIBC signed a “multi-year agreement” with Microsoft with the intention to migrate many of its operations to the cloud.
The July agreement will see CIBC utilise Microsoft Azure as its primary cloud platform as the bank pushes forward with a “cloud-first approach”.
In October, the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) — of which CIBC is a member — launched the second iteration of its Coreless Bank platform as it looks to help firms modernise and digitise their core banking infrastructure.
