German investing start-up Moonfare raises $125m in Series C round
Berlin-based digital private equity investment platform Moonfare has raised $125 million in a Series C funding round.
The round, led by New York-based VC firm Insight Partners, brings the company’s total funding to date to $185 million.
Moonfare allows individual investors who want to diversify their portfolios to invest directly in private equity and venture capital funds via a digital platform.
Founded in 2016, the start-up already has a presence in 13 countries across Europe and Asia with offices in Berlin, Hong Kong, London and Luxembourg.
The firm claims it is the only private market fund platform globally that transacts with individual investors and family offices, banks and other advisors.
Moonfare says it will use the funding to develop its investment solutions, accelerate its international expansion and double the size of its global workforce with more than 80 new hires in its tech and product departments.
To date, Moonfare has offered access to 42 private market funds from private equity buyouts, US tech funds and real asset categories like infrastructure.
The firm claims to have more than 1,800 clients who have invested more than €1 billion on its platform.
