New fintech Uellbee aims to improve financial inclusion in Mexico
A new fintech has emerged in Mexico with a plan to change the way users interact with their money.
Mexico City-based Uellbee aims to offer access to credit, financial coaching, and a savings functionality to help users meet life goals.
Founded earlier this year, the firm is still in its very early stages. It is currently accepting registrations ahead of a planned launch.
Its co-founders are Francisco Meré, currently chief product officer at Banco Base, and journalist Regina Reyes-Heroles.
“I have worked and invested for many years in financial inclusion,” Meré writes on social media on the launch of Uellbee.
“While there are still tremendous challenges in that arena, new fintech companies should address the task of enabling individuals [who don’t] have the tools to manage their finances and ended up over-indebted.”
As well as two years at Banco Base, Meré spent four years as president of industry association FinTech Mexico.
Reyes-Heroles has worked at publishing group Milenio since 2015, and is currently its director of supplements.
