Brex hires Meta product head Karandeep Anand as CPO, lands $300m funding
US fintech Brex has appointed tech veteran Karandeep Anand as the company’s chief product officer (CPO).
Anand joins the San Franciscan company from Meta, formerly Facebook, where he led the firm’s business products group, serving more than 200 million businesses across the world.
Prior to his time at Meta, Anand spent 15 years at Microsoft, where he led the tech giant’s product management strategy for its Azure cloud and developer platforms.
Speaking on the appointment, Brex co-CEO Henrique Dubugras says: “Karandeep understands our customers and knows how to build and scale business products with consumer-grade ease to meet the needs of fast-growing companies.”
Anand is set to lead the business fintech’s product portfolio expansion.
To support these efforts, Brex has raised an additional $300 million in a Series D-2 round led by Greenoaks Capital and Technology Crossover Ventures.
Since its founding in 2017, Brex has raised a total of $1.2 billion from investors and is currently valued at $12.3 billion.
Brex offers a financial stack business for high-growth companies including credit cards and cash management accounts.
In August last year, Brex agreed a deal to acquire Israeli start-up and tech partner Weav for $50 million.
The firm said the acquisition of Weav, which offers a universal API for commerce platforms, would enable it to expand its global reach by establishing an “innovation hub” in Israel.
