Indian paytech Cashfree to double workforce this year
Indian paytech Cashfree Payments is set to embark on a hiring spree, with plans to double its workforce in 2022.
The payments and API banking solutions company says it wants to have a 600-strong workforce by March this year, with a further 350 added by the end of 2022.
Over the course of last year, Cashfree focused on India’s technical universities and engineering colleges, including the Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology, looking for new talent. Over 100 offers were made to graduates from these colleges last year, the Bangalore-based firm says.
Much like the rest of the world, Cashfree onboarded many of its new employees digitally, with over 300 added to its workforce in this way in 2021, bringing its total headcount to over 475 employees.
The hiring in 2021 also included leadership roles across engineering, product management, strategy and growth teams.
Cashfree also initiated various educational and support programmes to aid its workforce during the pandemic.
Cashfree CEO and co-founder Akash Sinha says: “The rise in e-commerce penetration and widespread digital payments adoption has given us the opportunity to scale significantly.
“Building innovations is at the core of what we do and we are investing in skilled and talented individuals who will drive innovation and build a seamless payments ecosystem.”
