Citibank’s digital asset group leaders quit to set up new crypto venture
Citibank’s co-heads of digital assets, Alex Kriete and Greg Girasole, are leaving to set up an as yet unspecified new venture in the blockchain-enabled digital assets space.
Kriete held a number of positions within Citibank in its private banking business, starting as an analyst in February 2011.
Girasole was with Citi for seven years and was previously a fiduciary investment analyst at JP Morgan.
The digital assets group within Citi’s wealth management division was only set up in June 2021, with Kriete and Girasole appointed as the co-heads.
Writing on LinkedIn, Girasole says: “It was at Citi where my passion for digital assets began, culminating in the opportunity to lead the effort to bring this new asset class to their Global Wealth franchise. I am proud of the foundation we set, and will cheer their future success.”
The pair say they will share details about the new venture in the next few weeks, at the end of their gardening leave.
Kriete adds: “Over five years ago my personal interest and subsequent writing about blockchain-enabled digital assets (yes, “crypto”) led to an amazing network of colleagues across Citi businesses, external companies, and interested clients, and at this time I will be taking on a new challenge professionally by creating a new company in this space.”
I did some transactions in crypto and to withdraw my money I used citibank, but I have been asked about 8 times to deposit more money to be able to return the previous money I currently have more than $7000. Now they ask me $2050. again so I can release my money. I think they are scamming me.
