ComplyAdvantage appoints ex-WorldRemit head as CTO
ComplyAdvantage, a tech data company for financial crime detection, has named Mark Watson as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
Watson brings over 26 years of tech experience into his new role, where he will lead engineering and technical innovation efforts, including expansion of ComplyData, the company’s repository of data and insights.
Watson joins ComplyAdvantage from WorldRemit, where he held the role of CTO since 2018. Prior to that, he founded and exited several companies across sectors including mobile apps, cloud, advanced analytics, systems management and customer experience management.
“My goal over the coming quarters is to expand our data and technology footprint so that we can continue to be the leading and most trusted anti-money laundering (AML) resource to our tier one banking, crypto, fintech and financial services customers around the world,” says Watson.
ComplyAdvantage uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to help regulated organisations manage their risk obligations and prevent financial crime. The firm also provides AML insights.
With four hubs located in New York, London, Singapore and Cluj-Napoca, ComplyAdvantage claims that more than 500 enterprises in 75 countries rely on its solutions.
Earlier this year, it announced a record year for its business and made a number of senior appointments.
In 2021, the regtech firm attracted additional investment from Goldman Sachs as an extension of an oversubscribed Series C funding round.
