Klasha names former PayPal exec Ayman Jawhar as new CPO
Klasha, a San Francisco and Lagos-based fintech developing solutions for cross-border African commerce, has appointed Ayman Jawhar as its new chief product officer.
Jawhar brings with him more than 15 years of experience in product consultation, development and management having worked for companies such as PayPal, Hudl and Prodigy Finance, among others.
At PayPal, he created the firm’s mobile-first business account, and over his career he has led product line expansions across Africa, Middle East and Europe.
Jawhar also helped co-build the first product management course for MBA students at INSEAD – where he continues to participate as a lecturer.
Launched in May 2021, Klasha’s technology allows African consumers to pay international online merchants in African currencies using various payment methods at checkout and then have their goods shipped to the continent.
The firm claims to have signed up more than 2,000 merchants and processed 250,000 transactions since launch.
Jawhar’s appointment follows the hiring of Nile Younis as Klasha’s new chief commercial officer from Mastercard, as well as a $4.5 million seed funding round in June this year.
