Kani Payments appoints Dan Clappison as COO to boost expansion
Newcastle-based data reconciliation and reporting platform Kani Payments has appointed Dan Clappison as chief operating officer (COO).
Clappison, who has more than 17 years’ worth of experience in payments, will be tasked with boosting the company’s operational efficiency as it continues to grow and scale.
Kani Payments says data volumes in the fintech sector are currently “surging exponentially”, with the firm having reconciled more than €10 billion in processed payments volume to date.
Clappison, who will oversee the reporting and reconciliation teams as well as liaise with customers, says his new job is to ensure that as the company continues to expand, “our clients have confidence that Kani Payments will continue to provide a reliable service”.
He will join CEO Aaron Holmes, chief marketing officer (CMO) Melissa Beckett and chief technology officer (CTO) Steven Licciardi, who together will focus on business and talent growth at the company.
Clappison started his career at Newcastle Building Society alongside Kani Payments’ founder and CEO Holmes, building out a cards business.
He has also held pre-sales, product and partnership management roles at US financial services firm TSYS. During his stint at Virgin Money, from where he joins Kani, he was part of the team which launched the Virgin Money credit card business, which now boasts more than two million customers.
CEO Holmes says: “As part of our growth we have been strengthening the senior leadership team and addressing all areas of the business, to now also include operations and sales.”
