Nottingham Building Society hires first chief technology and transformation officer
Nottingham Building Society (NBS), also known as The Nottingham, has appointed Paul Howley as its first ever chief technology and transformation officer (CTTO).
Howley, who joins from Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) where he was interim chief operating officer, will be responsible for the development of NBS’s tech strategy as well as acting as “a key custodian of business change”.
At YBS, Howley held a number of key leadership positions and was one of the drivers of the firm’s technology and transformation agenda, as well as a member of its diversity and inclusion committee.
Howley has also held senior roles at Lloyds Banking Group and RBS and is an independent non-executive board member at PG Mutual.
Speaking on his appointment to the newly created role of CTTO at NBS, Howley says he is joining the building society “at a pivotal time” following the launch of the society’s strategic blueprint for future growth earlier this year.
NBS CEO Sue Hayes, who joined the firm in January, says Howley displayed the “technical capabilities we need to support the delivery of our strategy”.
Nottingham Building Society, which is now over 170 years old, provides savings accounts and broker-led mortgages for its members through a network of branches.
