Wellington Holbrook steps down as CEO of Connect First Credit Union
Tech veteran Wellington Holbrook has resigned from his role as CEO of Canada’s Connect First Credit Union.
Holbrook submitted his resignation last month due to personal reasons.
He initially joined Alberta-based Connect First Credit Union as chief operating officer (COO) back in 2020 following his departure from ATB Financial, where he had spent nearly 10 years. He was made CEO of the firm in February this year.
In a post on LinkedIn, Holbrook writes: “I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on the circumstances that led to my departure. I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to continue leading the change there.
“We were just getting started (words my friends at Connect First know well) but in the past few years, truly, we accomplished so much.”
Commenting on his next steps, he writes: “I have a few ideas. I love a big challenge— the bigger the better. That’s what gets me excited.
“I want to do work that’s truly transformative. I want to pursue big ideas and take on the greatest challenges our communities are facing. Because now is the time for innovators to lead — and create hope for tomorrow.”
Connect First Credit Union has named its current chief risk and administration officer Kendra Holland as interim CEO while it searches for a permanent replacement.
The company currently boasts over $6 billion in assets under administration and serves more than 125,000 members.
