New Zealand accounting fintech Hnry bags $24.5m in Series B funding
New Zealand-based bookkeeping platform for the self-employed, Hnry, has secured $24.5 million (AUD 35 million) in a Series B funding round led by AirTree Ventures.
The round also saw participation from Athletic Ventures, Left Lane Capital, Icehouse Ventures and Notion co-founder and chief operating officer (COO) Akshay Kothari.
Founded in 2016 and based in Wellington, Hnry provides invoicing, tax, insurance and compliance services to self-employed contractors and freelancers in Australia and New Zealand.
Once customers sign up to the platform, Hnry does away with the need for accountants and accounting software, with all taxes calculated and paid for automatically.
Hnry says the new capital will be put towards fuelling the company’s growth, entering new markets as well as hiring more employees. The money will also go towards developing new products and onboarding more sole traders.
“We’ve increased our investment tenfold over the last four years, which speaks to the unique and incredible trajectory Hnry is on,” says returning investor Icehouse Ventures’ CEO Robbie Paul.
“In just a few short years, they’ve created a product adored by self-employed people everywhere, and their growth in the Australian market is just the beginning.”
