The Nottingham appoints Anthony Murphy as CFO
Nottingham Building Society (NBS), also known as The Nottingham, has appointed former Tandem Bank chief financial officer (CFO) Anthony Murphy as its new CFO.
Murphy will join NBS in March, leading the firm’s finance team and tasked with driving its strategic growth.
At Tandem, Murphy was “pivotal” as the firm underwent a strategic review, migrated to a new core banking platform, scored a number of fundraises and grew its deposit offering.
Prior to Tandem, Murphy was CFO for a listed regional bank in the United Arab Emirates and has held a number of senior finance and strategy roles at Lloyds Banking Group, including finance director of the group’s Middle East business in Dubai.
At NBS, Murphy will work closely with Paul Astruc, who served as CFO and board member for the last two years. Astruc is retiring to pursue a non-executive career and will leave the Society on 6 April.
Murphy says he is joining NBS as it emerges from a “thorough strategic review process, with an eye on the future”.
NBS CEO Susan Hayes says Murphy’s “wealth of experience” will bring “both solid foundations and genuinely innovative thinking” to the firm.
“Anthony will be a key stakeholder in helping forecast and shape our strategic roadmap to deliver our purpose.”
In October, NBS appointed Paul Howley as its first ever chief technology and transformation officer (CTTO).
