US Bank launches automated payroll deposit feature for new accounts
US Bank has launched DIY direct deposit, allowing new current account holders to switch their payroll direct deposit “in just minutes”, the first of its kind in the US.
The automated process, part of the bank’s new enhanced account onboarding experience, is available on the bank’s mobile app and online banking platforms.
The feature is available to clients opening new US Bank Smartly Checking or Safe Debit checking accounts and utilises infrastructure powered by Atomic, a provider of payroll connectivity services.
Customers search their payroll provider, sign into their employer account and receive confirmation that their payroll direct deposit has been switched, all in a matter of minutes, US Bank says.
The bank says it is the first large bank to fully automate the process and provide clients with instant confirmation that it was successful.
Tim Welsh, vice chair, consumer and business banking at US Bank, says: “Our new DIY direct deposit feature is yet another way we are helping our clients save time and simplify banking.”
US Bank chief digital officer Dominic Venturo says: “We are constantly innovating at US Bank to offer a digital-first experience for our clients”, adding that early data shows the DIY direct deposit feature is already popular.
