Thunes appoints Victor Lucena as new head of Latin America
Global cross-border payments firm Thunes has appointed Victor Lucena as its new head of Latin America as it looks to boost its growth in the region and secure more partnerships.
Thunes says Lucena is “a fintech native” and brings “extensive” sales and business development experience having previously worked for payment platforms and financial services firms including Binance, Rapyd, Worldpay, and PayU.
“Having worked in Brazil and many other countries across South America, he brings a deep understanding of regional cultural differences and market dynamics to his new role,” the company says. “He was directly responsible for winning deals with some of the big digital brands in the region.”
Commenting on his appointment, Lucena says Thunes can help fintechs and businesses based in Latin America to grow by supporting the region’s “international payments ambitions and connecting it to other continents”.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Singapore, Thunes is a B2B payments firm that enables businesses to send and accept payments from all parts of the world via one single connection. It currently supports 80 currencies and enables payments to 130 countries.
In Latin America, Thunes has established regional payout partnerships in 17 countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay.
