BMO Financial Group names Darrel Hackett as new US CEO
Canada’s BMO Financial Group has named Darrel Hackett as its new US CEO, president and CEO of BMO Harris Bank and CEO of BMO’s US holding company, BMO Financial Corporation (BFC).
Hackett will report to group CEO Darryl White and will also join the bank’s executive committee and chair its US management committee. These appointments will be effective 1 June 2023.
Hackett has been with BMO almost two decades, serving in several leadership roles including heading up the bank’s US business banking group and its North American integrated channels team.
He was most recently president of BMO’s wealth management division in the US.
Hackett replaces Dave Casper, who has announced his retirement from the role. He will now serve as chair of the board, effective summer 2023.
White says Hackett’s track record will be “key to the continued success” of BMO US, adding: “Under Dave’s leadership of BMO’s commercial banking businesses, BMO has progressed to become a top five commercial lender in North America.”
BMO Financial Group is the eighth largest bank in North America by assets, with total assets of $1.15 trillion as of 31 January 2023.
It provides personal and commercial banking, wealth management, global markets and investment banking products and services to 12 million customers across Canada, the US and in select markets globally.
