European Payments Council names Giorgio Andreoli as director general
The European Payments Council (EPC) has appointed Giorgio Andreoli as its new director general, effective 1 April 2023.
Andreoli takes over from Etienne Goosse, who is stepping down after 12 years in the role.
As director general, Andreoli will draw on his “extensive” professional experience in digital financial services across multiple industries and executive-level roles.
Over the last 18 months, Andreoli has been working at the European Central Bank on the Digital Euro project.
Prior to that, he spent more than a decade as managing director at consultancy Accenture, working on digital finance, payments and open banking initiatives for Italian and European clients.
He also spent 15 years in the telecommunications sector, ultimately serving as director of strategic marketing at Ericsson Southeast Europe.
As director general, Andreoli says he will be working closely with EPC members to build “the future of payments in Europe” as well as address the opportunities and challenges facing the payment industry.
The EPC is an international not-for-profit association, representing payment service providers (PSPs), which supports and promotes European payments integration and development, particularly the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
