Home management data platform AskHomey acquired and set to shutter
Home management data platform AskHomey has been acquired by a private investor for an unspecified amount, with the new owner set to close down the firm’s UK app.
Once the deal is complete, the company as well as its website and app will be shut down by the end of the year.
AskHomey, which helps people manage their home finances, repairs and bills as well as store key information such as contacts, documents, contracts and receipts, has sent an email to its users informing them of the sale, adding that those wishing to download their data held on the platform should do so before 10 June 2023, “after which all user data will be deleted”.
FinTech Futures understands the sale is to a private investor who wishes to remain nameless until they relaunch the platform under a new name.
AskHomey aimed to “centralise and digitise” home data management, drawing from files, e-mails and third parties. The app leveraged APIs to recruit partners in energy switching, home decoration and design, as well as eco-saving efforts.
Following the deal, AskHomey will retain its shareholding in GetDwelly.com, a US-based venture that licensed the platform.
CEO Dharmesh Mistry will also continue his work on property data digitisation as part of the Home Buying Selling Group alongside technology subgroup lead Maria Harris.
Speaking on the sale, Mistry says: “It’s great to get some recognition that we have created something special and unique with AskHomey. I’m confident there is a great future ahead for our platform.”
