Volkswagen Financial Services in tech overhaul with Oracle
Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) has signed a multi-year deal with tech giant Oracle and migrated the majority of its databases to Oracle’s cloud database platform, Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer.
With Oracle, VWFS will look to modernise its database technologies in order to support its European operations while complying with data security and local regulations.
Following the migration, VWFS says Oracle’s cloud platform has helped it “significantly improve” performance and availability of core services, “including up to 60% latency reductions for critical applications and over 50% acceleration of data analytics processes”.
VWFS adds that Oracle’s solutions have enabled the firm to automate its data management, which has helped boost its operational efficiency.
“With Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, we have been able to quickly migrate mission-critical systems to a cloud infrastructure while ensuring we maintain full control of our data management and keep data close to our customers,” says Matthias Knappstein, head of IT operations at Volkswagen Financial Services.
