PayU names Shiri Schneider as new chief technology officer
Dutch payment service provider PayU has appointed Shiri Schneider as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
Schneider replaces Ronen Morecki, who has left the company to join project management software firm Monday.com as VP of payments.
Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Morecki says: “After many years in the payments space as a Service-Provider, I am moving to the other side of the equation overseeing all aspects of the company’s payments strategy and execution.”
Morecki co-founded open payment processing platform Zooz in 2010, which was acquired by PayU in 2018.
Schneider joined PayU in 2021 as vice president of global engineering having previously served as VP of engineering at digital fraud prevention and customer authentication firm Outseer. She has more than 18 years of experience in technology and management, including 12 years spent at software firm NICE Systems.
In her new role, she will lead an international team of 250 developers to help advance the company’s API-first payment solutions.
Speaking on her appointment, Schneider says the payments landscape is “evolving rapidly and technological advancements are bringing new opportunities, especially in emerging markets”.
PayU is the e-payments and fintech business of investment company Prosus and currently operates in more than 50 high-growth markets across the globe.
Last year, it acquired Colombian paytech Ding and invested in fellow Colombian firm Treinta in a bid to strengthen its presence in Latin America.
The company specialises in online payments processing, payments routing optimisation, transaction security, cross-border payments and FX capabilities.
It claims it currently “deploys more than 400 payment methods and PCI certified platforms to process approximately 10 million payments every single day”.
