PSR names civil service veteran Natalie Golding as chief operating officer
The UK’s Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) has named civil service veteran Natalie Golding as its new chief operating officer (COO), effective 3 July 2023.
The regulator says Golding, who also joins as head of people and operations, will be responsible for “how the PSR invests in the skills and capabilities of its staff, the overall effectiveness of its operations, and the way in which the PSR manages project delivery and risk management”.
Golding joins the PSR from the Cabinet Office where she was director of the leadership, government skills and curriculum unit. Prior to that, she was chief of staff to the COO of the civil service and permanent secretary for the Cabinet Office.
Golding is also director of the leadership college for government, which offers leadership development and networking opportunities to senior civil servants and public sector workers.
The PSR has also appointed Alex Olive as its new general counsel. She will be responsible for leading the PSR’s team of lawyers and for providing legal advice and managing legal risk across the organisation.
PSR managing director Chris Hemsley says both Olive and Golding bring “a wealth of knowledge and experience” from working at “high-profile” regulators, government departments and in the private sector.
Together, they bring qualities “essential in helping us deliver our strategy and making sure payments work well for everyone”, Hemsley adds.
