Ukash Inks Funds-Transfer Deal with MoneyGram (April 30, 2013)
London-based prepaid voucher specialist Ukash is extending the reach of its services further with a new deal announced this week with MoneyGram. The alliance will enable Ukash customers to send funds from the Ukash Website to recipients at any MoneyGram outlet worldwide. The service will launch in the U.K. later this year, with plans to expand to other markets as well , Ukash said. Recipients will be able to get funds sent by Ukash customers at 310,000 MoneyGram agent locations around the world.
Ukash, which operates in 57 nations, targets underbanked consumers who use the service to load cash to a digital wallet enabling them to transact online. Ukash earlier this month announced a service that lets users turn their game winnings or Ukash transaction change into cash at more than 24,000 PayPoint-enabled retailers throughout the U.K. In 2011 Ukash launched a prepaid debit card enabling customers to load unused balances on its vouchers to a UkashOut MasterCard.
