TransCard Launches Self-Service Gift Card Kiosk (July 9, 2013)
July 9, 2013
Prepaid processor and program manager TransCard has announced a new self-service gift card kiosk targeted for placement in shopping malls. Known as RUBY, the automated kiosk enables shoppers to select a gift card denomination, enter payment and receive the card without the assistance of a customer service mall employee.
“After studying the kiosk market, we’ve realized that the economics of the self-service kiosk are out of line with the market reality,” notes TransCard CEO Craig Fuller. “We don’t believe mall operators should have to pay a lot of money for having a kiosk in their facility. Because we generate income from our processing and program management services, we are able to offer the kiosk systems at a low cost to any of our market participants.” Mall operators can pay as low as $100 per month for RUBY, which can be deployed less than 30 days, according to TransCard.
The RUBY rollout follows TransCard’s January acquisition of HQ Gift Cards, the nation’s largest program manager of mall-based prepaid and gift cards.
