i2c, Heartland Kick Off Processing Pact with Payroll Card (July 16, 2013)
July 16, 2013
Cloud-based payment processor i2c Inc. has signed a deal to provide prepaid card processing services to Heartland Payment Systems. The collaboration will kick off with i2c taking over processing duties for Heartland’s National Restaurant Association (NRA) Edge payroll card program, which enables restaurant employees to load their paychecks and outside funds onto a Discover-branded prepaid card and receive employer-sponsored incentives and rewards programs.
i2c’s payment processing platform will serve as the system of record for Edge accounts and enable the introduction of new card features such as card-linked offers and real-time mobile alerts. “Today’s restaurant employees are looking for better ways to manage their finances, and easily and affordably access their cash when and how they want it. i2c’s platform helps us better serve restaurant workers that are not currently served by traditional financial services,” said James Balda, senior vice president of innovation and business development for the NRA.
Redwood City, Calif.-based i2c has rapidly grown its processing business over the past year. In June, the company announced that more than half a billion transactions had been processed over its platform in the previous year, setting a new annual transaction record for the company.
