Mint Wireless Unveils New Platform for Australia, New Zealand Payments (Sept. 4, 2013)
Australia-based mobile payment processor Mint Wireless has announced the launch of a new platform the company says will simplify the integration of card payments across multiple mobile devices and platforms. Targeted for use by businesses ranging from micro-merchants to large corporations, the platform reduces barriers to entry into the highly regulated card payments industry in Australia and New Zealand, according to Mint.
The platform features three main card payment services: Mintegrate, a developer program that offers software development kits and APIs for third-party integration partners and developers; Minterprise, a customized service that enables banks, telcos, retailers and other large companies to offer their customers mobile payments via a white-label or fully branded solution; and Mint mPOS, a mobile card reader system that enables small merchants to accept payments via iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Minterprise is available now, while Mintegrate and Mint mPOS are expected to launch in Australia and New Zealand in October.
Mint faces competition from U.S.-based heavyweights Square and PayPal, which already have mobile payment solutions in Australia. Last month Mint inked a five-year deal with MYOB, a provider of business management, accounting, payroll and tax software in Australia and New Zealand, to distribute, license and integrate Mint’s mobile payment solutions with MYOB’s software products.
