StoreFinancial Teams with Twins for RAN Gift Card (Jan. 28, 2014)
Pitchers and catchers might not report to spring training until mid-February, but StoreFinancial already is thinking about baseball. The Overland Park, Kan.-based payments processor and program manager yesterday announced a deal with the Minnesota Twins to launch a private-label gift card.
The Minnesota Twins gift card program is new in the professional sports industry because, according to StoreFinancial, it is the only gift card using a restricted authorization network (RAN) to enable purchase and redemption at any merchant the sports team chooses, inside or outside the stadium.
The gift card is available in four different card designs and in denominations of $25, $50 and $100. Cards can be purchased at the Target Field box office, by phone, at the Twins Majestic Clubhouse Store at Target Field and at three off-site locations in Roseville, Minnetonka and Apple Valley, Minn. Fans can redeem their gift cards for merchandise, concessions and tickets at all Twins pro shops and Target Field merchants.
“Gift cards give our fans a convenient way to share the baseball experience with friends and family,” said Kip Elliot, Minnesota Twins chief financial officer. Fans can also use gift cards for themselves as a way to manage their spending at games, or if they don’t want to carry cash during the game.”
StoreFinancial announced last April its Fan Experience Card marketing program, which is designed to strengthen the bond between professional sports teams and their fans, as well as ties between team sponsors and their customers.
