Blackhawk, Barclays to Launch Pingit Gifting Feature (Aug. 5, 2014)
Blackhawk Network today announced a partnership with U.K.-based Barclays Bank PLC to launch an e-gifting feature for Barclays’ Pingit mobile banking service, enabling consumers to purchase an e-gift for themselves or someone else using their mobile devices. Gift categories include entertainment, dining, gaming, fashion and health and beauty. The feature is scheduled to launch on Android and iOS devices later this month.
Pingit, launched in 2012 as a P2P mobile payments service available to U.K. consumers regardless of whether they had an account with the bank, recently expanded to offer additional payment types, such as car payments. Pingit was a winner in the Market Mover category at this year’s Paybefore Awards Europe.
