People on the Move: Barry McCarthy, Andrew Gelb, Sanjiv Das and Adam Rosman, First Data Corp.
First Data has announced a series of appointments to its senior leadership team.
Barry McCarthy has been appointed to lead four strategic businesses: First Data’s STAR Network, TeleCheck, Money Network and Prepaid Solutions. A 10-year First Data veteran, McCarthy successfully led the turnaround of the First Data Financial Services division and will be building a team to strengthen and grow these businesses into a separate First Data operating unit.
Andrew Gelb is now the head of First Data’s Financial Services business. He will be responsible for a range of services, including credit and debit card issuing solutions, statements, card production, lockbox and online banking. He has spent nearly two decades at Citi, where he most recently led its treasury and trade solutions business in North America.
Sanjiv Das will lead the First Data international business, which has operations in 35 countries and provides payment technology and processing solutions in nearly 70 countries. He has a successful track record of leading large, complex businesses in the U.S. and internationally. He succeeds John Elkins, who will now serve as First Data’s chairman of international. Das most recently served as CEO and president at CitiMortgage Inc.
Adam Rosman will serve as First Data’s new general counsel, overseeing First Data’s in-house attorneys and outside counsel and responsible for all legal matters. Rosman previously served as general counsel at Willis Group Holdings plc, where he led the company’s global legal, compliance, risk, audit and corporate secretary functions. He also served one year in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Staff Secretary for President Bill Clinton. Rosman succeeds Dave Money, who will now serve as vice chairman at First Data prior to his retirement.
