Consumer Awareness of E-Money in Russia is Strong (June 9, 2015)
Many Russians today are paying for goods and services with e-money or have at least heard of the payment method, according to a study by research agency TNS Russia. Nearly all respondents (95 percent) have heard of e-money, 74 percent of the survey respondents use it at least once a year, and almost a half of the respondents use it several times a month.
The most active users are ages 25 to 34, according to the report, which was conducted last month among consumers ages 20 to 44, in cities with populations more than 700,000. Four out of 10 e-money users pay for goods and services using either desktop computers or mobile devices, while 53 percent primarily use a desktop computer. E-money is most often used for online purchases, mobile carrier billing, home utilities, music, movies, games and P2P transfers.
Yandex.Money is the top Russian payment service, with 44 percent of consumers using Yandex.Money for payments at least once a year; 43 percent used WebMoney, 36 percent used QIWI and 35 percent used PayPal, according to the report.
