Perk.com Launches Rewards Prepaid Card with Discover, Marqeta (Aug. 13, 2015)
Perk.com Inc. has tapped One to Watch Paybefore Award-winning Marqeta to launch Perk Plastik, a Discover prepaid card that enables its rewards members to redeem points online and at the POS.
“We have found that merchants today are not looking to change their point of sale to accept reward points as payment,” said Omri Dahan, Marqeta chief revenue officer. “Marqeta is able to convert points in real time, helping Perk to provide its members with greater options for spending their rewards.”
Austin, Texas-based Perk rewards consumers with Perk Points for their everyday mobile and Internet activities, such as shopping, watching videos and playing social games. The digital Perk Points can be redeemed for gift cards and cash. Perk owns and operates 12 mobile apps and several Websites enabling members to earn Perk Points. In addition, Perk launched its Appsaholic SDK for mobile and desktop publishers, which enables publishers to reward Perk users for engaging with their apps and Websites.
Perk members enroll in Perk Plastik using the latest version of Perk Wallet, which is available through the Android Play Store or iOS App Store. The card is sent to the consumer and linked to the member’s account. Perk Points can be directly transferred to the card for online and in-store shopping.
