suretap Adds Loyalty Feature (Nov. 3, 2015)
Experts have long pointed to loyalty as the key to convincing consumers to adopt mobile wallets. Canadian mobile wallet provider suretap is taking that principle to heart, announcing a partnership with loyalty management specialist Points that will make it the first m-wallet in Canada to offer full loyalty card integration, according to the company.
The deal will enable suretap to add a loyalty section to its wallet app, where users can store loyalty cards from more than 100 global brands, making it easier to earn and use loyalty points, the company contends. Brands benefit from a new way to reach customers through the mobile channel—an increasingly important contact point as consumers shift toward mobile-based shopping.
“By providing suretap wallet users with access to loyalty rewards management and transaction capability in one place, we’re excited to open the door to a better consumer experience in the wallet and for loyalty programs to both better engage their customers and drive attractive incremental economics via this new channel,” said Rob MacLean, CEO, Points. The addition of a loyalty component could also help suretap compete against Apple Pay, which is set to expand into Canada later this year, Apple recently announced.
The Paybefore Award-winning suretap mobile wallet was first launched in 2014 for Android and BlackBerry devices by Canadian telecom provider Rogers Communications. suretap has since added support from other wireless carriers and Canadian banks and was spun off as a separate entity in May 2015.
