Mozido Supercharges TWallet for Indonesia’s Largest Telco (Dec. 3, 2015)
Boasting more than half of Indonesia’s 255 million people as wireless customers, mobile network operator Telkomsel Indonesia is tapping Mozido to help it entice more of its 140 million customers to use its mobile wallet .The TWallet now has NFC mobile payments capabilities and loyalty perks, in addition to mobile money services, such as the abilities to check account balances, bill payments, airtime top-ups, P2P transfers and transaction history. Financial services provider Finnet Indonesia and Verifone Mobile Money are also partners in TWallet.
“This is Mozido’s first initiative in Indonesia,” says David Luther, Mozido executive vice president and chief business officer. “Indonesia is a particularly attractive geography because [of its population] with a high rate of mobile phone adoption and an appetite for mobile payments that helps people gain access to convenient and safe financial services previously unavailable to them.” Because Telkomsel Indonesia is the country’s largest network operator with millions of subscribers, launching a mobile wallet with this massive subscriber base is a strategic and significant way for Mozido to enter the country, Luther tells Paybefore.
The addition of Mozido’s NFC mobile payments technology enables TWallet customers to tap to pay using their mobile devices at participating retailers and restaurants, including McDonald’s, Wendy’s, 7-Eleven, movie theaters and grocery stores, among other businesses. Mozido also provides Telkomsel’s merchants with a mobile coupon management system, which enables them to send their own branded coupons directly to targeted TWallet consumers.
Earlier this year, Mozido told Paybefore its focus is on building a seamless global mobile ecosystem based on interoperability so all systems—payments, loyalty and coupons/promotions—work together. The Austin, Texas-based company has offices in in North America, Latin America, South Asia, Australia, Africa and Jamaica.
