InComm’s E-Commerce Store, Cardency, Opens on eBay (Dec. 15, 2015)
InComm is tapping into consumer preferences by connecting eBay shoppers with its gift card partners through a proprietary storefront exclusively on the e-commerce site. The Cardency storefront enables consumers to buy plastic gift cards in denominations of $25 to $100 from the prepaid product and technology provider’s portfolio of gift card partners, which includes clothing retailers, restaurants and gaming gift cards. In addition to Cardency running promotions, such as discounted pricing or buy-one-get-get-one offers, purchases are backed by eBay’s money back guarantee.
Cardency marks the first time InComm is directly fulfilling physical gift cards to consumers through eBay, according to InComm. “The launch [of Cardency] helps advance eBay towards their objective of having more robust gift card options on their site,” Mike Fletcher, general manager, InComm digital solutions, tells Paybefore. “It helps InComm provide additional distribution options for our gift card partners.”
Consumers who search for gift cards on eBay will find Cardency, Fletcher says. Consumers who visit www.cardency.com will be redirected to the eBay page featuring Cardency.
There are no purchase fees for gift cards purchased through Cardency; there is a $1 fee that includes shipment and tracking.
Nearly 90 percent of 500 respondents of a recent InComm survey indicated they purchase two or more physical or digital gift cards by online or mobile means annually. Of all respondents who have purchased a gift card online or via mobile, 32 percent bought a digital card, 29 percent bought a physical card and the majority—39 percent—bought both.
