FIS Launches FinTech Accelerator (Dec. 21, 2015)
FIS has joined the accelerator game. The financial services technology firm will work with Little Rock’s The Venture Center to operate the FinTech Accelerator. The 15-week program will accept up to 10 financial technology startups, providing them with courses and mentorship focused on strategic planning, finances and other business areas.
“At FIS we’re investing in innovation that keeps our clients competitive in today’s environment, while also looking at what the global financial services industry will look like in the future,” said Gary Norcross, FIS president and CEO. “We’re excited to partner with The Venture Center on this initiative and to further establish Little Rock and Central Arkansas as a desirable location to start and grow a business.”
Applications for the program will go live in early 2016 on the Website, which also offers more information about the fintech program.
FIS follows the lead of other payments players hoping to attract and guide fintech rookies. For instance, MasterCard last month announced the newest participants in the payment card network’s Start Path fintech accelerator. Visa Europe in May opened its London-based Visa Europe Collab, which also will have locations in Tel Aviv, Israel and Berlin, to bring the ideas of startups from conception to the commercial world.
