Amex, Jackson Hewitt Sweeten Pot for Consumers during Tax Time (Jan. 11, 2016)
The start of the New Year also means the start of tax season, and tax preparer Jackson Hewitt is sweetening the pot for customers by teaming up with American Express to provide quicker refunds. Customers have the option of receiving an American Express Serve GPR prepaid card the same day they have their taxes prepared. Jackson Hewitt is offering $50 on customer’s Serve cards the same day they file their taxes if they have a minimum tax preparation fee of at least $150.
Customers who have their federal tax refunds deposited to an American Express Serve account also will have access to their refunds as many as two days faster than standard electronic deposits from the IRS. American Express will add money to Serve accounts when notified of a pending refund deposit versus the typical bank processes of making funds available only after they’ve received the funds, according to an announcement. Serve is the 2015 Paybefore Awards Consumer Champion.
Although this is the first time Jackson Hewitt customers can receive their Serve cards the day their taxes are prepared; customers with existing Serve or Bluebird accounts can have their refunds directly deposited to those accounts, as in years’ past, an American Express spokesperson tells Paybefore.
In addition to the American Express Serve card offer, Jackson Hewitt is giving $50 Walmart e-gift cards to customers who have their taxes done by Jackson Hewitt and their tax preparation fees are $150 or more, according to the company’s Website.
