People on the Move: Matthew Eichner, Federal Reserve Board
The Federal Reserve Board has appointed Matthew Eichner to serve as director of its Division of Reserve Bank Operations and Payment Systems, effective May 1. Eichner has served as deputy director of the division since January 2015. He will replace outgoing director Louise Roseman, who will serve as senior adviser until her retirement later this year. As divisional director, Eichner will lead the division’s oversight of Federal Reserve Bank operations, development of regulation and policies governing payment, clearing and settlement systems, and efforts to improve the overall efficiency and integrity of the U.S. payments system. He also will oversight the division’s research on a variety of payments-related topics.
Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Board in 2008, Eichner began his career at the U.S. State Department and also has served in the Treasury Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has taught economics and finance at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University.
