Worldpay Outages Frustrate E-Commerce, Gambling Consumers
Duplicate charges and delayed payments to online gamblers: Those are among the issues reported as technical problems at Worldpay continue for the third week.
The processor, which went public on the London Stock Exchange late last year, has not identified the source of the issue but TechCrunch reported it stems from a software update that caused outages and backlogged payments.
Etsy is among the e-commerce sites dealing with the problems, and consumers have taken to its message board to complain about delays and multiple charges. Online betting company Stan James also has reported problems, with many of its customers complaining via Twitter.
Worldpay did not immediately respond to a request for comment but reportedly told the Financial Times “that it was experiencing an isolated issue with one of its gateways which is affecting a very small proportion of our customers (substantially less than 1 per cent) and a small proportion of the transactions that we process daily.”
