People on the Move: Ruth Owades, Cachet Financial Solutions Board
Mobile fintech specialist Cachet Financial Solutions Inc. has appointed entrepreneur Ruth Owades to its board of directors. Owades is the founder of Calyx & Corolla, a fresh flower catalog and e-commerce site, and served as its CEO and chair from its 1989 inception through 2002, when the company was sold to an investor group. From 1980 to 1988, Owades served as the CEO of Gardener’s Eden, a gardening tools, furniture and accessories company she founded, which was purchased by Williams-Sonoma in 1982.
Owades provides advisory and mentoring services to early stage companies, including helping management establish progress milestones, finalize funding strategies, analyze consumer behavior trends and explore joint ventures and alternate revenue streams. She currently serves on the board of directors of Northern Trust Western Region, Ultra Capital, diaTribe Foundation and Technion—the Israel Institute of Technology. She previously served as a director of Armstrong World Industries, Deckers Outdoor Corporation, J. Jill Group, Newsy and Providian Financial.
