People on the Move: Mike Sommers, ShopKeep
Cloud-based payment technology provider ShopKeep has named Mike Sommers as the company’s new senior vice president of product management. Reporting to CEO Michael DeSimone, Sommers will lead the expansion of ShopKeep’s iPad-based POS system in the retail, quick-service and full-service restaurant verticals.
Sommers has more than 21 years of experience working within the online software space. He started his career building e-commerce solutions for major brands, including Continental Airlines and General Motors, then spent seven years at AOL, where he served as vice president of product development for AOL Search. Most recently, Sommers served as senior vice president of product at Beatport, an online distributor of electronic music, where he led the company’s transition to a consumer-facing platform following its acquisition by SFX Entertainment.
