Mobile Payments Roundup: Chase Pay and CVS Expand Their Programs
Chase said on Oct. 19 that Wakefern Food Corp., a supermarket chain based in New Jersey, will soon accept Chase Pay mobile payments.
Wakefern includes 50 member companies that own and operate 330 supermarkets along the East Coast. Chase Pay will be accepted via the ShopRite and The Fresh Grocer Websites later this year. “Chase Pay will be phased in next year at ShopRite and The Fresh Grocer store registers and through the ShopRite mobile app,” Chase Pay said.
The expansion for Chase Pay comes about a month after it inked a multi-year acceptance agreement with Phillips 66 that also will boost the fuel retailer’s mobile payments and loyalty integration.
In other mobile payments news, CVS Health said on Oct. 19 that it is rolling out its in-house CVS Pay service across the United States after earlier offering the mobile wallet to consumers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. CVS Pay enables customers to pay for purchases and earn loyalty points via barcode scan.
“CVS Pay is now part of the CVS Pharmacy mobile app, and integrates payment, prescription pickup and the ExtraCare loyalty program all into one quick scan at checkout,” the drug store chain said. “CVS Pay users have the ability to refill, manage multiple prescriptions and now pick-up and pay all within the app.”
