People on the Move: Ming Maa, Grab
Southeast Asian ride-hailing app Grab has named Ming Maa as its new president, based in Singapore. In the role, Maa will be responsible for driving corporate development activities, including strategic partnerships and investment opportunities, developing and executing on new market strategies, managing the company’s overall capital structure and other corporate activities.
With more than 12 years of finance and investment experience across the U.S. and Asia, Maa joins Grab from global technology firm SoftBank Group, where he helped oversee investments in companies in the ridesharing and e-commerce industries, including an April 2015 Series D investment in Grab and another investment in in September 2016. Prior to joining SoftBank, Maa was a principal at Ancora Capital Management, and from 2000 to 2012 he served as a vice president in Goldman Sachs’ merchant banking division and global private equity group.
