Blackhawk network gives PayNearMe a boost, announces Cardpool marketplace
PayNearMe, which bills itself as the US’s largest electronic cash transaction network, is expanding to Blackhawk Network retail partner locations, starting with Casey’s General Stores.
Casey’s operates in 15 states throughout the Midwest and adds nearly 2,000 stores to PayNearMe’s retail network, bringing its total store count to 30,000 locations.
PayNearMe enables cash users to pay more than 17,000 national and local billers using cash and having cashiers scan the PayNearMe barcode on the user’s phone or on paper.
In other Blackhawk Network news, the company’s Cardpool gift card exchange site launched a new marketplace option, enabling sellers to set their own prices. That means pre-owned gift cards and e-gifts are eligible to sell on Cardpool.com’s website alongside Cardpool’s inventory. When selling a gift card, customers can accept a direct purchase offer from Cardpool or instead, list their gift cards for sale at the price of choice on Marketplace for other buyers to purchase, according to an announcement.
Cardpool said the direct sale of gift cards from other consumers will shoppers more variety of gift cards while still providing Cardpool’s one-year guarantee.
