KBC Bank Ireland turns to TSYS technology
KBC Bank Ireland has signed up payments technology company TSYS to help launch its debit card portfolio in Ireland.
KBC has been active in Ireland for 40 years and employs 700 people in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Belfast and Galway. The company is part of KBC Group.
The technology KBC will use consists of TS2, the TSYS outsourced processing platform, and customer support from TSYSManaged Services EMEA.
“KBC is providing a real alternative in Irish banking and over the last 18 months we have been expanding our presence and introducing new and innovative products,” said Edward Dillon, head of retail products for KBC Bank Ireland. “The ability to launch a debit card is seen as the next critical stage in our growth. We are pleased to partner with TSYS, the leading debit processor in Ireland, to work together to launch our debit card portfolio.”
Kelley Knutson, executive vice president at TSYS, added that debit is the fastest growing payment instrument in Europe and presents an opportunity for the firm to develop its proposition. TSYS is based in Georgia in the US.
