Freelance payments platform Paydesk partners with TransferWise
Paydesk, a payments service for freelance journalists and writers, has partnered with international TransferWise to expedite its transaction processing.
The UK-founded platform already claims to offer secure payments for freelancers around the world, but now TransferWise’s API will mean users won’t have to consult their bank to get paid and can access payments through any device.
The fintech also says its users can now benefit from lower fees and receive the real exchange rate for overseas payments. Paydesk will look to scale its user base through the partnership too, now able to increase the volumes of new accounts and transactions through them.Read more: Freetrade brings first native full stack solution to UK
In a bid to quell the “financial anxiety” which Paydesk says often hangs over freelancers, CEO and founder Henry Peirse wants to address the “urgent need [for] financial control and flexibility” in the freelance payments space.
“Paydesk’s ambition is to let freelancers anywhere in the world withdraw funds whenever they want — without waiting weeks or months for invoices to be processed,” says Peirse, who believes more fintechs and providers should be removing the pain points of freelance payments.”
Founded in 2014, the platform now serves more than 6,000 freelancers worldwide. Freelancers which use the search engine and payments platform are concentrated in the US, the UK, South Africa, Kenya, India, Germany and France.
