BBVA deploys Google Cloud security analytics platform
BBVA and Google Cloud have signed a collaborative agreement on the development of new AI and machine learning models to prevent cyberattacks.
As part of the deal, BBVA becomes the first European bank to deploy Chronicle, Google Cloud’s security analytics platform.
Google claims Chronicle can analyse all of a bank’s security data to “detect and investigate threats at scale”.
BBVA says it will incorporate Google Cloud´s innovative artificial intelligence capabilities into its security strategy.
“This partnership represents a leap forward for the bank,” says Álvaro Garrido, BBVA’s chief security officer.
“[It] allows us to be at the forefront in preventing threats to the security of our financial infrastructure and our clients.”
Garrido says Google’s platform surprised those at BBVA. He hails its ability to “quickly and accurately mitigate possible threats”.
He adds: “Google Cloud’s Chronicle meets our expectations and will be a magnificent partner in the transformation of our security posture, just as Google Cloud has been in other areas of the bank.”
BBVA has worked with Google Cloud since 2011, and uses a collection of Google services throughout its organisation.
“The Chronicle platform was built to help companies like BBVA improve its security infrastructure,” says Derek White, global financial service vice president at Google Cloud.
“This collaboration will solidify Chronicle as one of the key pillars of BBVA’s security infrastructure.”
