Penta co-founder Jessica Holzbach exits fintech after four years
Penta’s co-founder Jessica Holzbach is leaving the fintech she began building in Berlin more than four years ago.
The soon-to-be former executive’s exit is “at her own request to seek a new professional challenge,” the company said in a statement.
Penta offers banking services to freelancers and small businesses. To date, it claims have accrued more than 30,000 European companies as customers.
With a second office in Belgrade, Penta mainly services German and Italian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
It currently employs some 150 people and has raised more than €50 million so far. Investors include HV Capital, RTP Global, Presight Capital, and ABN Amro Ventures – which all contributed to Penta’s €30 million Series B.
Crypto? Healthcare? Investing?
Holzbach will continue to hold a stake in Penta and “stay involved in the company” after she leaves the management team on 30 April, the statement reads.
The co-founder’s last role at Penta was chief customer officer. But now she reckons Penta is set up for long-term success, it’s onto the next venture.
“I’m sure that the foundation for Penta’s further growth and great success in the market has been laid,” Holzbach said in Penta’s statement.
On LinkedIn, she added: “I couldn’t be more excited for what comes next – a vacation and then? Finance isn’t done yet.
“Crypto is heating up. People need better healthcare. The earth isn’t going to heal itself. Investing? Let’s see.”
Following Odorović
Penta’s other co-founder, Lav Odorović, has already turned his attentions to a new venture in Relio.
Targeted at Swiss SMEs, the start-up is currently in the swings of applying for a fintech licence from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma). It is yet to launch, currently signing up users to its wait list.
The start-up recently graduated from F10 accelerator, which operates a base in Zurich, in addition to its hubs in Madrid, Barcelona, and Singapore.
It claims to be backed by “two institutional investors”, but the identity of these backers is not yet public knowledge.
