ACI Worldwide appoints interim CEO as Odilon Almeida departs
Payments software firm ACI Worldwide has parted ways with now former CEO Odilon Almeida and appointed Thomas Warsop as interim CEO, effective immediately.
Almeida left the company after less than three years at the helm, having joined in March 2020. Almeida previously had a lengthy career spanning 17 years at Western Union.
Warsop, former non-executive chair of ACI’s board of directors, will act as interim CEO until the board identifies a permanent replacement.
The firm says it aims to “enter into a transition services agreement” with Almeida until 30 November to ensure an orderly changeover.
Warsop joined the board in June 2015 and became non-executive chairman in June 2022.
Over his career, he has led various portfolio companies for several private equity firms since 2012, including One Call Care Management, York Risk Services Group and The Warranty Group.
Warsop also served as group president at Fiserv from 2007 to 2012 and held various roles at Electronic Data Systems for 17 years, including president of its business process outsourcing unit in Asia Pacific, vice president in the UK and vice president of global financial services.
Adalio Sanchez, an independent member of the ACI board since 2015, has been selected as the firm’s new non-executive chair.
ACI’s nominating and corporate governance committee chair Mary Harman says the company’s board “determined that now is the right time to transition to a new leader focused on accelerating our technology transformation and delivering operational excellence across our business”, adding Warsop brings “considerable leadership experience and expertise” in financial services technology to the role.
