Video: Highlights from the exclusive global launch of Leda Glyptis’ book, Bankers Like Us
On 1 February 2023, Leda Glyptis unveiled her brand new book, Bankers Like Us: Dispatches from an Industry in Transition, supported by FinTech Futures.
It was a wonderful evening with nearly 100 senior-level professionals gathering together at our Blackfriars office in London to meet Leda, get a signed copy of the book, network, and take in the spectacular panoramic views of the city.
Attendees included execs from Allica Bank, NatWest, JP Morgan, HSBC, Capital One, Banking Circle, Lloyds Bank, ClearBank, Mastercard Ventures, Amazon, Pensionbee, BNY Mellon, Credit Suisse, plus many more. Antony Jenkins, CEO of 10x Banking and former group chief executive of Barclays, also attended to support Leda on her writing journey and gave a brief speech on the evening.
A well-known and incredibly respected voice in the industry, Leda Glyptis writes on, lives, and breathes transformation and digital disruption.
Her first book looks at the human and structural obstacles to innovation-driven transformation and the change in habits, mindsets, and leadership needed for the next stage of the digital journey. The book argues that this change will be brought about not by external heroes and saviours, not by a generation yet to be born, but by people just like us.
It will be brought about by people who understand the industry and its quirks, by bankers who have the grit, determination, and energy to drive change. The book celebrates and chronicles the shared experience of bankers like us.
“For years I have been blogging and speaking about how the biggest obstacle to progress inside banks are people. And that the only hope for change are also people. What is so often approached as a technology journey falls down or triumphs around the humans that keep on keeping on, the dreamers, the builders, the plumbers, and the storytellers of banking transformation.
“The work is carried through by ‘Bankers like Us’ and I am beyond delighted to be finally telling our story.”
